Local Groups Launch Campaign Against Home Depot for ICE Complicity
Atlanta, GA. On March 24 at 10 AM, local groups from Atlanta will hold a press conference to announce the launch of the “Defrost The Home Depot” campaign to pressure The Home Depot to end its complicity with ICE. This is in light of the past several months of inaction on the part of The Home Depot when faced with ICE raids in its parking lots, as well as contracting with Flock Safety, whose cameras have been used by ICE in their operations. It is also notable that The Home Depot is a sponsor of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Atlanta will soon play a central role on the world stage and The Home Depot has a responsibility to Georgians and attendees of this event from around the world to take a public stance to denounce ICE’s actions and to commit to protecting its customers and employees.
WHAT: Press conference with local groups and publication of a letter sent to Home Depot leadership and signed by community groups representing a diverse breadth of perspectives, including immigrant rights and social justice. Our requests to The Home Depot are as follows:
1. End The Home Depot’s contract with Flock Safety, and keep any
security camera footage and license plate records private and internal
2. Develop a policy that deters ICE from staging and conducting raids in
The Home Depot parking lots and entering stores without a judicial warrant
3. Create a safety plan that protects customers, employees, and day
laborers in the event of ICE presence on The Home Depot property
4. Train The Home Depot staff to assert their constitutional rights in the
event of an ICE operation
5. Give local The Home Depot stores some autonomy to develop
relationships with local groups and be able to put their own policies
and procedures in place to protect the people in their communities
6. Take a public stance against ICE raids in The Home Depot parking
lots, and express support for customers, workers, and day laborers
